Birds eye is a type of figure that occurs in several hardwoods.
The distinctive pattern resembles tiny swirling eyes disrupting
the smooth lines of the grain. Birds eye maple is used only
by the most capable cabinetmakers and craftsmen as the grain
is difficult to work with.

The all-natural process of heating soft maple in a vacuum
and then re-hydrating results in a rich, coffee-coloured 'roasted maple.'
Hard maple butcher block cores are framed with 'roasted maple' to give us
these outstanding serving boards.

they are finished with food-safe beeswax. This salad-bowl finish is available

The Shakers did not rely heavily on written doctrines. Instead, they preferred first-person religious experiences. The Bible and other spiritual books were used only for guidance as personal experience and individual revelation was considered more important.
